I just help my friend to change her status from F-1 to F-2, I gathered the information from school, lawyer, and some websites to create this Hub for anyone who needs it.

What do you need are:

- Complete I-539 ( you can download it on uscis.gov ).

- Copies of immigration documents for both husband and wife ( I-94 front and back, passport bio pages, visa stamp, I-20, and approved of spouse F-1 status, and also dependent I-20 ).

- Copy of marriage license.

- Personal Statement, written to the USCIS Adjudication Officer, in which you explain why you are requesting a change from F-1 to F-2.

- Evidence of financial support.

- A Check $300 payable to USCIS.

- Send it with Certified Mail with Return Receipt to

U.S. California Service Center

P.O. Box 10539

Laguna Niguel CA, 92607-0539

You will receipt a Notice of Action ( I-797 ) from USCIS within a week or so.

And you can check your case status on uscis.gov with your receipt number (WAC-xx-xxx-xxxxx).

Usually it takes three months and up to get the result.

I hope this hub will help someone.

Thank's.
